SOPHIA gathering for Two Harps, Ninety-four Strings Concert
St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church, 4440 N. Campbell Ave. (299-6421). Harpists Patricia Harris and Christine Vivona will play a two harp concert. Its a not-to-miss performance! We will go to the show and then out to a late dessert for those willing.

Rebecca Foreman, harpist with the Tucson Pops Orchestra, will present a recital.
San Pedro Chapel, 5230 E. Fort Lowell Road
$10 suggested donation.
Rebecca will display some unique historic harps and perform standards from the harp repertoire. Early Spanish music and its influence on the Americas will also be explored through Paraguayan harp music, and works by Ginastera and Lecuona. Rebecca will be assisted by her sons, Roger Foreman, violin, Brian Foreman, percussion, in addition to Deena Reedy, flute, and Mary Paul, voice.

Music Education Auditions at Becky Foreman's

Students will play for a panel of expert judges two pieces of
contrasting style and take a theory test. The judges will give
comments. The students will return in four weeks to play for the same
panel to personally gauge their improvement. No one wins or loses, its
a great opportunity for a positive growth experience. No age limit.

The Gemini Duo, Mary Bouley and Lorna Govier, will perform thier harp duo at Tucson Folk Festival. They'll be playing a mixture of Celtic and Paraguayan music with a few other surprises. The Festival in general is within walking distance of the corner of Church and Alameda.

SOPHIA gathering! Our May meeting is going to Wednesday May 6 at 7PM. Location will be announced shortly. It will be an open SOPHIA RECITAL for anyone who would like to play. This is a great opportunity for students to get more experience playing their music in front of an appreciative and harp loving audience.

Laurie Riley Honor Concert
The San Pedro Chapel, 5230 E. Fort Lowell Road
A concert in honor of Laurie Riley, a prominent figure in the folk harp community for many years. Laurie has recently become very ill due to a rare blood disease and cannot continue her work at this time and is currently disabled. She has always been a giving harper, teacher and friend to many.
Any musician interested in participating in this concert to honor her work should contact Lorna Govier at We are looking for music that would honor Laurie and her work in some way. It would be wonderful if a few of Laurie's own compositions were showcased at this event. Lorna has transcriptions of her works for those interested in contributing this way.

Sam and the Crazy Daisy - Just for Kids Concert. Patricia Harris will play with the Flute Viola Harp trio. A lazy day on the farm turns into a day of adventure as Sam the hound dog spots a flying flower! Join Sam as he chases across the farm in hopes of finding out just how that daisy became so crazy. Story and music by Michael Fan.
